1 1/2 pounds mixed nuts. almonds, walnuts and pecans
4 1/2 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons light brown sugar
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 teaspoons crushed red pepper (or to taste)
Place raw mixed nuts in BBQueCan and place them in the oven or on the grill at 250ºF to warm for 15 to 20 minutes (this helps the sauce coat evenly). Meanwhile, make your seasoning by combining all the other ingredients in a sauce pan and placing them on stove top at low heat until they reach a low boil/simmer. Careful not to over heat or burn! Remove the mixed nuts from preheating, pour the seasoning mixture over the warm nuts and mix thoroughly. Place the combined mixture back in your BBQueCan™. Cook the nuts in a smoker or grill over medium heat- 225º to 300ºF- for 1 hour, turning the BBQueCan™ every twenty minutes or so depending on temp. Pour the nuts onto a cookie sheet and sprinkle with a small amount of white sugar and kosher salt to taste. Stir, let cool completely and enjoy!
This same recipe can be used for any nuts.
